Now we are beginning to recognize that mother did know best and those old cast iron pots and pans that we threw out thinking they were junk were actually the best cast iron cookware available and much better than our supposedly more advanced modern cooking pans.
Cast iron cookware heats evenly across its base and avoids the problems of hot spots and partial burning we see with many lightweight cooking pans it can also be transferred between stove top and the oven for browning and also used to serve directly to the table where stylish cast iron will be a talking point among your guests and since it retains its heat will help keep food hot.
These days the best cast iron cookware commands a premium price but you may be surprised how well it compares with lesser quality cookware. Always wanted to try out cast iron pans, but they are rather expensive in my country. Although it's quite heavy, but I think I can handle it, perhaps not for my wife. Thanks for the hub!
Brilliant hub and a great choice of castiron cookware. I love it.
I love my cast iron cookware, but was not aware of the cast iron pizza pan. I will be looking for one of those. Thank you for the information.
I've been looking into getting a cast iron Dutch oven for a while... enameled or not? Another brand besides Lodge? Thanks for the good comparison resources in this hub!
I had never given much thought to cooking pots and pans before so I had no idea about all the benefits of cast iron cookware and I love the idea that they will last a lifetime. We all throw stuff out far too easily these days so cast iron pots seem to be a real win-win choice.
Thanks for a great cooking pot page :o)

Excellent hub Tim. I am especially drawn to the "cast iron
pizza pan." Though they can be heavy and last for generations, I've heard that cast iron cookware has its health benefits due to the iron element.
