Family Life Videos

We live in an age of video and it gives us the opportunity to pass on the knowledge and the experiences to the following generations by recording family life videos that are a record of the things we have seen, the places we have visited and the relationships we have experienced.

We can pass on to our children our feelings both good and bad about the things that have happened both to us as individuals and to the world in our lifetime. It gives us a very special opportunity to connect with future generations in a way that has never been possible before except through written diaries.

A family life video is a summary of what our life diary might have been. It can be a video scrapbook full of memories, photos, live video interview recordings together with the musical memories that matter to you.

We are not all quite used to being filmed and it can be an intimidating experience for some of us. Facing a camera and talking to it does not always come easy so get some practice. It is important you allow any family members freedom to talk about anything they want but try to keep them focused on things that are relevant to your family life and their experiences but also include how world events have shaped their lives and lifestyles..

By recording your thoughts and experiences of life you pass on that knowledge and experience that has taken you so many years to build. There are events that occur in our lives where we learn by our mistakes and passing on that knowledge to our children and their children might help them avoid the problems we once faced.

The banking crisis has proved that we have forgotten a lot of the experience of our grandparents and there is little doubt that there are many other areas of our lives where their suffering could help us avoid similar problems and if we can record our advice and our life experiences on video or DVD we can perhaps prevent difficulties and problems for our children, their children and their children's children.

We all wish we could learn more about our ancestors. It would be fascinating to be able to hear their thoughts and experiences but sadly we cannot.

We can prepare such recordings for our children and our children's, children and it would be a wonderful gift of knowledge and experience to pass on to them.
