How To Drive A Car

When we are old enough we can't wait to get in a car and start driving but you need to learn how to drive first. The trouble is when we start driving we are not experienced enough to understand the consequences of some actions and being young and full of self confidence it is very easy to end up doing stupid things with disastrous results.

The better you understand what a car can do when things go wrong the better you will be at making sure you stay within safe limits of what your car and you as the driver can do and some of the best ways to understand what to do right is to see what happens when you do things wrong.

So below are some examples of how not to drive and what happens when you drive stupidly.

Accelerating away from a standstill

Some cars are very powerful and tempting as it is to stamp on the accelerator pedal and spin the wheels as you pull away that wheel spinning means you have lost traction and the results can be a loss of control even in a straight line such as with the following example.

Drive To Suit The Weather Conditions

Remember that roads can get slippery when it is wet or in cold weather conditions. You might be nice and warm in the car but outside it is slippy.

Accelerate smoothly and brake gently and always leave plenty of space between you and the car in front. On snow and ice the car will keep going for a bit even when the brakes are on and the wheels have stopped turning as you can see below.

Learn To Park Safely

When you get where you are going it is very tempting to stick the car in the most convenient parking spot but you should always consider what is around you and make sure you have parked safely out of harms way.

Park properly and look around to see if there are any likely hazards that might damage your car. You don't want to get your nice car scratched do you?

You can be sure the owner of the car in this video thought they had parked safely. Wrong!

Your Friends Will Laugh At You

When you get your new wheels you want to show your car off to your friends. Nothing wrong with being poud of your car but take car if you start to show off how it perfoms. Showing off to your friends could end up with you looking pretty stupid and you will never live down the embarrassing moment.

This driver probably thought his friends would be well impressed. I bet they laughed their socks off and he cried all the way to the bank.
