What Is A Powerball

An introduction to the powerball exercise ball has to start with an explanation of how gyroscopes behave. You may have had a gyroscope as a child and one of the remarkable properties they have is that once they are spinning they resist being moved.

This resistance feature was at the heart of the idea of the powerball exercise ball. If you hold a spinning object it resists being moved and becomes the equivalent resistance to a heavier weight. This means that with a powerball in your pocket you are carrying the equivalent of a small gym full of equipment.

The powerball is a small spherical container that carries a gyroscope within. You start the gyro spinning and you can increase its speed by a twisting wrist motion. Once up to speed you can use the powerball as a resistance exercise machine to exercise the series of muscles from the wrist and hand right up through the arm to the shoulder muscles with up to 40lbs of resistance.

While some users swear by these powerballs and consider them a great bit of exercise equipment others are less enthusiastic but the problems seem to occur from these users finding it difficult to set the gyro spinning. There is a technique to doing this and you may not get it straight away but once you get the technique right these are easy and useful exercise machines that you can keep in your pocket.

Powerballs are considered to be particularly good for tennis players, golfers and drummers and anyone else who needs to maintain a firm grip. Exercising with a powerball is said to help resist the development of carpel tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injuries and it is claimed to both improve coordination and increase arm and grip strength.

Types Of Powerball

There are a large number of different types of powerball available but they all share several similarities. Powerball exercise balls are the size of a tennis ball and weigh less than 300grams but once spun up they offer resistance training equivalent to a much greater force.

There are several different models of powerball with additional features from a speedometer which tells you how fast you have got the gyro spinning up, powerballs that light up of glow when spinning and super deluxe metal powerballs that are precision engineered to achive higher gyro speeds and even greater resistance..

The cost varies from around $15, as I write this, for the Dynaflex Pro Sports Gyro wrist exerciser up to $125 for a Iron Power V-Power, Red, Metal Powerball

Powerball User Experiences

Most users of the powerball gyroscopic exerciser ball appear to be delighted with their powerballs there are some who seem totally unimpressed. The most common reason for their lack of enthusiasm seems to be that they have been unable to get the technique of spinning up the gyro inside the ball. The result of this is that they have not been able to experience the benefits of using the hand held exercise powerball.

Once customers have spent a little time getting the hang of spinning the gyro and experiencing the benefit of exercise with powerballs they seem to be very satisfied so the lesson appears to be that you should take your time to get the hang of the technique first and you will enjoy using this piece of exercise equipment.

The powerball seems to be very popular with golfers and tennis players through improving their grip and ability to hold their clubs and raquets steady in use and it is claimed these two groups and others who need a good grip will benefit along with anyone who wants a stronger grip and improved wrist and arm muscles. It is also said to be an excellent exercise for reducing the risk of carpel tunnel syndrome and Repetitive Strain Injury problems.

The general opinion is that the powerball is great for sportsmen and women and anybody who would like to tone up and strengthen their arm and grip. It seems to be beneficial in several different ways and it helps to improve co-ordination, strength and is a great relaxing way to exercise and last of all it is fun and having fun exercising with a powerball is no bad thing.
