Why Used Golf Carts?

In these troubled times pretty much everyone has to be making some cutbacks and this applies to hobbies and sports as much as anything else.. If you are into your golf, as almost every golfer is, you will want to enjoy the best of the game of golf in every way.

Owning your own golf cart has many benefits but the main one is that you have your golf cart ready to use when and where you want it. There are none of the annoying aspects of using a buggy that has had a thousand different drivers and passengers and shows all the signs of that wear and tear.

Golf carts are terrific little vehicles and they are remarkably tough and hard wearing. We often think big means tough and reliable but the used golf cart can prove that theory to be plain wrong.

A used golf cart will often show little sign of the use it has had. Manufacturers build them to survive being used and abused by many different users so everything about them is tough. From the seat material to the design of the engine everything is designed to be tough and reliable.

So the result of this designing for strength and reliability is that a secondhand, used golf cart makes a great buy for anyone who would like to be the owner their own golf cart. If you want something that stands out on the golf course you might want to consider a customized golf cart made to look like some other sort of vehicle.

Types Of Golf Cart

You can break down golf carts into a few different types. There are both three or four wheeled carts and buggies and both of these designs will have a choice of power plant with both gas powered carts and battery powered electric carts available.

There seems to be little to choose between the three and four wheeled carts. The three wheeled versions may be a little more maneuverable and can turn on a dime while some would argue that a wheel in each corner makes the four wheeled golf cart more stable.

Both designs are good but when it comes to choosing the power system the arguments often come down to personal taste and opinions and some people will get quite heated in their conviction that gas is best or that battery electric power is the right choice.

Electric power is great but you have to make sure the batteries are kept charged up while the gas powered golf cart is always ready to go at any time.

The benefits of the electric cart are that it is very cheap to run and with few moving parts it needs very little in the way of maintenance and should prove reliable over a long period of time. The weakness with battery powered golf carts is the battery and over time the battery will lose it's ability to hold it's charge and at that point you may need to replace the battery.

The gas golf carts will need a certain amount of servicing and maintenance because they have a gas engine just like your car. They will need the oil changed and filters replaced now and again. They will, of course, use a bit of gas so that is another cost so overall the electric cart may be a little cheaper to run.

Make sure you check the tires on a used golf cart. Also, try to find one that has been stored with a golf cart cover. It will typically be in much better condition than one that wasn't.
