When I first heard the phrase hypnotic gastric band I thought I must have misheard what was said. It sounded a bit of a strange idea but as I learned more it all started to make sense. If your mind is convinced you can eat no more then dieting becomes a whole lot easier.
Gastric banding surgery has been around for quite some years now and many people have benefited from the operation but it is still an operation. It can lead to complications and there are follow up visits required every year or so to check everything remains OK so it is not the simple solution some people think it is.
Hypnotic gastric banding requires no surgery and is said to be effective for lots of people.
What Is Hypnotic Gastric Band Therapy?
The theory behind gastric band surgery is that by putting a band around part of the stomach it restricts the amount of food you can eat before you begin to feel full and uncomfortable. When all else has failed and someone is severely overweight the risks of continuing with the threat to their life from being so overweight becomes greater than the risks involved in the operation but it is still surgery and should never be undertaken without good medical advice.
What if you thought you had already had the operation and your subconscious mind was telling you that you were full up after eating a much smaller amount of food than before. New Gastric Band Treatment
This hypnotic gastric band therapy is a fairly new type of alternative to a surgery procedure and it is early days but some people seem to have had great success with it while others have not done so well. I expect this is the same as any other hypnotherapy such as helping to stop smoking. It works well for some but not so well with other people.
One benefit of this treatment as an alternative treatment to gastric band surgery is that it is much cheaper and if it doesn't work for you then there is no harm done and you could still resort to surgical weight loss treatment.
Hypnotic gastric band treatment could be a great alternative solution for significant weight reduction plans and it sounds like something well worth trying out for anyone who is considering gastric banding surgery to lose weight but it could also be an effective way of helping people to lose weight even if they are not considering surgery. It will be interesting to see how this new approach to weight lose develops in the future.

Interesting article. Any alternative to weight loss surgery is great and if hypnotic gastric band therapy works then it will certainly help many people without the risks of surgery.
The hypnosis procedure also needs to include change of behavior which is where most weight loss diet programs fall down. You can lose weight on just about any diet plan - but unless you also make lifestyle changes it will all return. So though the procedure certainly focuses on convincing the subconscious it's had the Gastric Band surgery it has to go much further to be effective.

hypnosis4u2 I agree with what you say but I think the idea is that because you 'think' you have had the surgery, you feel unable to eat the quantities of food you previously ate and that automatically changes your eating habits and behaviour.
If it doesn't achieve that then I couldn't see it working because we would just carry on eating as much as before the treatment.
Weight Loss Hypnotherapy does work. I can say from my own experience hypnotherapy for weight loss does really work, i know that because i have had it done after struggling with my weight for many years.
I must admit before I heard a radio broadcast on the BBC with Claire Hegarty who was invited on the show for being an leading expert in Weight loss hypnotherapy, i would have said to anyone who suggested that i was hypnotized for weight loss, not to be so stupid. But after struggling with my weight for many years and where my weight went all the way up to 22 stone, i listened to the show after becoming despearate and found it very interesting.
I had tried everything to lose weight, i went on loads of diets, i went to my doctor time and time again and he was not interested, i even asked if i could be given a pill that doctors give out for weight loss but he refused so i was now desperate and would have tried anything.
After listening to claire hegarty on the show and listening to what she had to say about hypnotherapy, i decided to contact her through her website, now you have to understand at this time i was still not believing hypnotherapy could help you lose weight but i did want to know more.
She explained all about hypnotherapy and weight loss and how it works to help you lose weight and i was very interested and started to feel maybe their is light at the end of the tunnel, maybe i can get back my ideal weight. I agreed to meet her and after getting on well with her i became her client. And i have to say, that i am so happy that i am now four stone lighter and still losing weight.
So what i have to say to you is, do research by all means into weight loss hypnosis, but it does work and do go to an expert and see the diference it will make to your life as it has made a huge difference to my life but make sure that they are an expert. Just because they do hypnotherapy, it does not mean they are an expert in hypnotherapy weight loss

I am a hypnotherapist as well as am psychotherapist with Master's in both psychology and clinical social work. The Virtual Gastric Band works! I had attended Sheila Granger's workshop in NY City as my practice is in Rockland County New York. She has had a high degree of success in her trials in the UK and the results I see here are as well. Having hypnotherapy combined with tools from psychotherapy could only increase its efficacy.
