Science Toys Give Your Child A Passion For Learning

Children are eager to learn about everything and they have a sense of wonder about the world. Science toys appeal to this eagerness to understand things and can spark an enthusiasm for education that lasts through life. When we go to school we may go grudgingly of we may enjoy it but if we have passion we are eager to learn and educational science toys can encourage that passion in a child and make them want to find out more and go on to become scientists themselves one day.

I have always thought that the key to education was to find the key that opens up a child's interest and curiosity. Once curiosity is let loose a child just sucks up information, knowledge and ideas. This is why I believe science toys are such great motivators for children because they cause the child to ask why and how and when and the child is eager to learn about that particular subject and other things too.

Children are like sponges but they need to be awakened to the excitement of learning and I believe science toys can do exactly that. They certainly worked that way with me..

Why Scientific Toys Are So Good For Kids

Anyone over the age of 30 will think back to their childhood and remember toys that sparked their imaginations. More recent toys seem to offer more initial excitement because they are so complicated and clever. Toys that do everything are amazing but how much room do they leave for you to use your imagination?

Kids growing up need to develop their minds in all sorts of ways. Computer games may challenge them in the technical ability of fast responses and being aware of what is going on, on the screen but leave little room for the child to use their minds to develop ideas.

Scientific toys are the opposite of this. They challenge the child to understand how and why things are what they are and what other possibilities there could be. Scientific toys promote an enthusiasm for learning that is likely to last a lifetime and help them in their working lives as well as at school and college.

Types Of Science Toys

There are several types of science toys available. Some come as kits to assemble and the assembling is part of the learning experience. Others come ready to use but with lots of instructions on how to use them together with any appropriate accessories to help enjoy using them.

Scientific toys come under three main types to match the three main sciences. Physics, chemistry and biology. The physics toys encourage experimentation in the physical laws of the world and demonstrate some of the scientific laws that the physical world depends upon. The chemistry toys are a great way of understanding how different materials react and interact with each other while the biology toys show how animals and plants exist and thrive.

Demonstrating Physical Laws

Toying Around With Science: The Physics Behind Toys and Gags is an excellent book introducing physics by explaining the way certain toys and gags work. A very good approach to attract the interest of a young persons mind towards physics and how everyday objects work.

Classic Science Toy The Drinking Bird

I remember this toy so well. I was astonished to see how it just kept nodding up and down as if by magic. It fascinated me and I have felt soft and mellow whenever I have seen one since.

It is a simple action toy to be observed rather than played with but it demonstrates several scientific principles of heat including expansion of gases when warmed and contraction when cooled as well as pressure and gravity.

A fascinating toy to spark any child's latent scientific mind.

Thames & Kosmos Physics Workshop

The Physics equivalent of the chemistry set. Gives a young person the chance to play around with various items to understand the fundamental laws of mechanical physics through building models and simple machines. The contents of the kit. enable a child to build things such as fixed pulleys right up to a pendulum clock.. Builds 36 models and includes 37 experiments.

Teaching Kids About Money

It is important we teach our kids about money and finance and the first place to start is with the idea of saving money for the future and the kids money box is the first step in education about personal finance..

Scientific Explorers Mind

This science discovery kit allows your kits to set up their own discovery lab in the home. It contains everything you need to perform several experiments to excite and interest young minds.

Colorful and exciting experiments that will intrigue and interest young people in wanting to understand more about how the world works. What could interest an intelligent child more than making their own magic ooze with what appears to be a mind of its own or making a small and colorful volcano
